Jen: I am... A Follower of Christ. Blessed with an amazing husband. Wonderful family. The greatest friends anyone could ask for. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1989, at the age of 8. The unicorn has become the mascot of the D.O.C.

There are so many misconceptions about Diabetes and most of society thinks that it isn't hard to live with... you take a pill, maybe a shot, and stay away from sugar... no big deal... piece of cake (pun intended)!

Many of us living with Diabetes make it appear really easy and seemless. We do what we have to do because, well...we have to do it!

Diabetes isn't all unicorns & rainbows as many people think.

It's an invisible disease. We don't look sick, but we sure deserve a cure.

So until one is found, we'll strive to be the healthiest we can be, dealing with the ins & outs, ups & downs, and annoying unpredictability of daily life with Diabetes... and when we need to take a break from it all (even though it is 24/7...no breaks possible) we'll daydream of UNICORNS & RAINBOWS!
