I look forward to it EVERY month.
Honestly, I do.
It's necessary in every woman's life.
It's the way its supposed to be.
It's refreshing, like the perfect cup of tea.
It's comforting, like your favorite pair of slippers.
It's satisfying, like an egg white omlette with feta, spinach, and gyro meat.
...it's my monthly breakfast with Bonnie and Trish!!!
(What? Did you think I was talking about something else???)
We make it a habit to meet once a month at Elly's pancake house.
We get our usual omletes, catch up on the past 30 days, and laugh ourselves silly.
The time always goes by way too fast!
Trish and I go way back to elementary school. We first met in 2nd grade, BEFORE I had Diabetes. And she was even in my class the following year in 3rd grade when I was diagnosed. She was there when I read a cartoon children's book to my classmates about what Diabetes is...and she's remained my friend to this day. She constantly encourages me in my goals toward better health. She now has a classroom of kids of her own as she's the best teacher any kid could ever have...and she's the kindest, sweetest, and gentlest woman you'll ever meet!
Bonnie and I first met at Basketball camp the summer before our freshman year of high school. We hit it off and have been friends ever since. She's an amazing pharmacist and great at what she does. She listens to me ramble on and on about my health, answers every question I have about medicine interactions, and she checks up with me on my A1c. Shes mom to one of the cutest kids you'll ever see...and she's the funniest, honest, and most loyal friend you could ever have.
We've been through marriage, pregnancy, sickness, and health together. I am a better person because of these women and truly blessed to have them as my friends.
I was so excited to meet up with them this past month, I left the house without even changing out of my slippers.
And after we met up, I went off to run errands and grocery shop. I got some funny looks in my jean skirt, tank top, and SLIPPERS...but it only made me smile and think of Bonnie and Trish!
I don't know what I'd do without these girls!!!
