WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS

Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason to blood sugars and Diabetes.
You can go "by the book" doing everything you're supposed to do and end up with awful results.
And then there are times you can "cheat" and everything turns out just right.

...and those are the nights (like last night) that I hope for a few seconds I've been miraculously cured!!!!

According to the Bolus Wizard on my pump,
I should've given myself some insulin to drop me down to 90-105
(the crazy ideal range my doctor has my pump settings at)
...but I chose not to.

If you had "Chocolatey Covered Pretzel Pieces And Rich Caramel Swirled in Caramel Ice Cream" in your freezer... you'd be craving this too late at night. Stop judging me...I only had 2 spoonfuls!

I should've beeen MUCH higher.

While I wasn't punished with high blood sugar in the morning,
I did come to find that I was punished with something else...
a freezer full of thawed food and a wet mess.

Yes, I had accidentally left the freezer slightly cracked open
when satisfying my ice cream craving the night before!!!

But, as the phrase goes...
"When Life Hands You Lemons, Make Lemonade!!!"

So we did what anyone else would do.

Gathered old books, dvds, cds, and videos that we've been meaning to get rid of.

Drove out to Skokie and sold them to our favorite used bookstore, getting $25 for them.

...leaving us enough $ to pay for a Chipotle dinner
AND
replace the meat we had to throw out.

What's the phrase???

"When Life Hands You Thawed Meat,
Eat Burritos"

  2. Hi! I just stumbled across your blog, and as a borderline hypoglycemic, your approach to regulating your blood sugar is very interesting to me! With blood sugar issues running in my family, I'm always trying to find ways to outsmart possible complications, so I can't wait to read more of your blog :)
